Perinatal and Neonatal Care - Software and Services
Maternity and Perinatal Care Solutions
Background
Meridian has been involved in development and support of maternity and perinatal care solutions since 1992. Meridian's perinatal and maternity care software is one of the most widely adopted solutions in Australia with over 53 hospitals using the application and recording over 70,000 births annually.
Our software is called Obstetrix in NSW and Tasmania and Matrix in QLD is based on our award winning clinical software technology Clinixian.
For an overview of the implementation within each health organisation please refer to Implementation of Maternity and Perinatal Care Solutions
Scope of Software
Scope of Software
The maternity and perinatal care solutions being based on our IDME technology encapsulate all clinical requirements as meta data as a 'Maternity Care Model.
Current models for Maternity care were originally developed by the NSW Obstetrics Consortium and subsequently purchased and modified by Mater Health Group and the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human services. Queensland Health purchased the Mater Model since this automates the Perinatal Data Collection reporting.

All current models cover the following settings / functions:
- Initial booking in
- Initial visit
- Hand held electronic record
- Ante natal admissions
- Ante natal visits
- Labour ward
- Delivery suite
- Intrapartum (partogram)
- Post natal
- Discharge
Charting
Charting
A generic charting function supports multiple formats and multiple presentation styles
Hand Held Record
A hand held record can be stored electronically on usb flash drives.
Statutory Data
The maternity care solutions include automated statutory reporting. In NSW it's the Midwives Data Collection (MDC) and in Queensland the Perinatal Data Collection (PDC). Tasmania are doing their statutory reporting directly from ObstetrixTAS, ie not exporting to another application.
Modeller Mapper:
A modeller mapping tool provides independence of clinical definitions from PDC definitions. This is important because this isolates changes in either the model or the PDC reporting.
