Benchmark and Performance
Benchmark and Performance
Overview
Meridian has had a range of experience in delivery of business intelligence solutions. Most recently it has invested resources in developing a version of its IDME to enable use as a data warehouse. In particular it has developed a bulk data load facility that takes data feeds from a variety of sources and converts them into a form that can be loaded into the archetype model based technology IDME. This new technology is being used to develop a large scale benchmark reporting system for the University of Wollongong.
Managing Director David Ashton came from a business intelligence background using tools by Cognos (eg PowerPlay). David brought Cognos to Australia where he was responsible for implementing many business intelligence solutions for medium to large organisations.
Our most recent experience was for NSW Business Improvement Strategy which commissioned Meridian to develop a Microsoft based solution which demonstrated an end-to-end capability. Meridian built an automated solution which was fed by four core systems including emergency, human resources, patient administration and finance. Two of these used HL7 messaging to send new data as it was recorded and two (HR and Finance) were periodic batch extract and upload solutions. The end result was a Dashboard for executives. This was also associated with a series of graphical reports which allowed the used to drill down to the underlying data.
New Developments
All new developments will be based on our performance measurement version of the IDME. The University of Wollongong project involves receipt of periodic data from over 200 clients from the Australasian region including NZ and some Asian countries. These data are received and transformed then loaded into an IDME database which acts as a data warehouse. The resulting data is structured and then reported on to provide a 100 page graphical report tailored to each client. These reports show how the client is performing relative to benchmarks and also to all other clients.
David Ashton is currently involved in developing a strategic business intelligence plan for ACT Health.
